FGD technology relies on a chemical reaction
triggered when the warm exhaust gases from a coal-fired boiler interact with
limestone. This reaction eliminates 92% of sulfur dioxide from the flue gas,
transforming the limestone into Calcium Sulphite. In all FGD processes, except
the SWFGD process, substantial quantities of chemical sorbents like limestone,
lime, magnesium-enhanced lime, and calcium hydroxide are indispensable in the
chemical industry.
